Local Non-Profit Spotlight: Round Rock Young Life

Helping Round Rock Teens Feel Known, Loved, and Connected

One of the things I love most about Round Rock is the people who make time to care for our community. Some of that work happens quietly: showing up at a high school game, listening over a meal, or making sure a teenager knows someone is in their corner.

For this month’s Local Nonprofit Spotlight, I’m sharing Round Rock Young Life, a local ministry that introduces teens to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith through caring, lasting relationships.

If you’re a parent of a high school student, or someone looking for a meaningful way to support local teens, here’s a closer look at what they do and how to get involved.

What Is Round Rock Young Life?

Round Rock Young Life is a local chapter of a global Christian organization. Its mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith.

At the center of that mission are relationships.

Volunteer leaders spend time where students already are, including high schools, sporting events, and extracurricular activities. They get to know teens, build trust, and create opportunities to talk about life and faith.

For a student, that connection can mean having a caring adult who remembers their name, listens to their questions, and continues to show up.

What Do Young Life Leaders Do?

Young Life leaders are college students and young adult volunteers who invest their time and energy in local high school students.

They become trusted friends and mentors, walking alongside teens as they navigate relationships, identity, purpose, and faith. Sharing the love of Jesus is central to their role, and their care for students continues regardless of how those students respond.

High school brings plenty of changes and questions. Young Life leaders offer encouragement and a steady friendship through those years.

A Place to Feel Welcomed Exactly as You Are

When asked what they hope students experience, the Round Rock Young Life team shared a simple desire: for teens to know how much Jesus loves them and to feel welcomed exactly as they are.

That includes room to laugh, have fun, take a breath, and build friendships with leaders who know and care about them.

Behind the gatherings and activities is a deeper hope that every student feels seen, known, and loved.

How Can High School Students Get Involved?

Students can connect with Round Rock Young Life by following @roundrockyl or emailing office.rryl@gmail.com.

Events take place nearly every Monday during the semester. Reach out to learn about the next gathering or get connected with a leader.

If your high schooler is curious, those are simple places to start. You can also pass the information along to a friend or neighbor with a teen who might enjoy checking it out.

How to Support Round Rock Young Life

There are several ways to help make this ministry possible, with opportunities for different schedules and seasons of life.

  1. Become a Volunteer Leader: College students and young adults can explore serving as leaders, building friendships with teens and walking alongside them through high school.

  2. Provide a Monday Night Meal: Meals for leaders on Monday nights are one of the team’s greatest needs. Providing a meal is a practical way to care for the volunteers who give their time to local students.

  3. Become a Monthly Donor: Monthly financial support helps make Young Life’s local mission possible and supports its ongoing work with teens in Round Rock. GIVE HERE

  4. Join the Young Life Committee: The committee is a team of caring adults who support the local ministry. If you’d like to contribute your time and talents, reach out to learn what serving could look like.
